This Crazy Ohio Weather!
Living in Ohio, you know that we are always being treated to some nice days sprinkled in with some very cold days. Please make sure that you pay attention to the forecast when dressing your child during the Spring. While the high temperature might be forecasted to be 70 degrees, the high is often not reached until 4:00-5:00 in the evening. We go out for recess at 11:30, so make sure your child is dressed for the temperature at THAT time. They will be sent outside in whatever they are wearing.
Please also take note that flip flops and open backed sandals are not permitted to be work at school. Any tank tops must be two finger widths.
Birthday Celebrations Reminders
We are thrilled to help celebrate your child’s birthday with the rest of our classroom community. However, due to many food-related allergies and restrictions, as well as our efforts to encourage more healthy eating habits for our young friends, we ask that any birthday celebrations be free of food.
Additionally, please do not send birthday invitations to be passed out in school unless ALL students in the class are invited. Invitations passed out to only SOME of the students results in hurt feelings. You may access student addresses in our Darby Creek Directory (information found later in this week’s newsletter).
Further information about Birthday Celebrations and suggestions for healthier options can be found on our class website on the Class Celebrations page.
PTO Student Directory
The Darby Creek Directory is live on the PTO website (http://www.darbycreekpto.com). To find the directory, click on the "forms and reports" tab and select "directory." This is a password protected page.

Reminders:
- Please make sure you are checking the website at the beginning of each week so that you know what day is our Gym day and that your child is wearing sneakers on that day.
- Help your child practice his/her 6-digit student ID number. These are used not only in the cafeteria, but will also be used for computer logons later on.
- If your child is buying breakfast at school, please remind them to go to the cafeteria first and buy their meal before heading to the classroom.
- If your child is going to be absent, it would be really helpful if you could send me a quick email letting me know not to expect them. Additionally, if you need to pick them up early or if they will be going home in a different way than is usual, please let me know prior to 2:00 (as this is the last time that I am able to check email before the end of the day).
- If your child is wearing shoes with laces, please help them practice tying them at home. This will save a lot of time during school. There is a great video on the homepage of our web site
